

Four-time National Award Winner for the films “Madras Café – 2014”, “Bajirao Mastani -2016”, “URI –The Surgical Strike 2019” and “Children of the Soil” (non-feature category) 2019 and a Member of The Oscar Academy’s Class of 2018, Bishwadeep Dipak Chatterjee is a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, in Sound Recording and Sound Engineering.

Bishwadeep has designed and mixed the sound for feature films like “Chokher Bali” by the late Rituparno Ghosh, “Lage Raho Munnabhai”, “3 Idiots” and “Sanju” by Rajkumar Hirani, “Parineeta” by Pradeep Sarkar, “Madras Café” and “Piku” by Shoojit Sarkar, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Padmavat” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Roam Rome Mein” by Tannishtha Chatterjee, “Runway-34” by Ajay Devgan, “URI The Surgical Strike”, “Dhurandhar” & “Dhurandhar – The Revenge” Directed by Aditya Dhar, “Brahmastra” by Ayan Mukherjee, “Adipurush” by Om Raut, “Dunki“ by Raj Kumar Hirani, “Chhaava” by Laxman Utekar & “IKKIS” Directed by Sriram Raghvan.
He has recently completed a Netflix Series as Sound Designer & Mix Supervision for “Operation Safed Sagar” Directed by Oni Sen & is currently working on “EETHA” Produced & Directed by Laxman Uttekar.

Bishwadeep’s other accolades include 4 Filmfare, 5 IIFA, 4 Screen, 2 Producers’ Guild, 3 Zee Cine and 1 GIMA award. He has also been awarded the West Bengal State Award for Contribution to Cinema and the Goa State Award for Sound Design of Konkani Film “K Sera Sera”.
He has been known to introduce and bring in a fresh approach in recording methods. Some of his most prestigious projects as a Music Engineer has been for Television serials like “Chanakya”, “Junoon” and “Swabhiman”, Music albums like “Ab Ke Sawan” (by Shantanu Moitra and Shubha Mudgal), “Dooba-Dooba” (by Silkroute), Films like “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” and “Devdas” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, “Munnabhai MBBS”, by Rajkumar Hirani.


Having a career span of just 4 decades, he has virtually worked in every department of Sound for Feature Films, Short Films, Documentaries, Television serials, Advertising films and Music Albums.
Bishwadeep has designed, installed and has consulted on several Recording Studio installation projects including two of his own. He has also lectured and taken workshops at FTII, Pune, SRFTI Kolkata and several private institutions. He has an invitation conducted Masterclasses on Sound Design in cinema at the IFFI (Goa), PIFF (Pune) & International Film Festival, Bangalore (BIFF).
Bishwadeep has started TAFA (Timbreworx Advanced Film Audiography) an Institute that imparts specialized training in Film Audiography along with his partner Nihar Ranjan Samal.
